This Week Marks the Peak of Spring, and With Venus and Mercury in Gemini, You’re Going To Want To Socialize

May begins with the Gaelic holiday Beltane, a time to celebrate fertility and the anticipation of longer days and summer's joy. Beltane marks the halfway point between the recent equinox and upcoming solstice; it honors the peak of spring. So, as you start a new week and a new month, take time to celebrate your goals for growth by connecting to your inner fire: your courage.

I offer this advice knowing that so many of us are feeling flat and dull, without drive or enthusiasm. No doubt, passion, and inspiration may be hard to reach right now. As organizational psychologist Adam Grant, PhD, recently wrote in The New York Times, the feeling of being without motivation, joy, or direction is called languishing, and it's essentially "the neglected middle child of mental health." Dr. Grant predicts languishing may be 2021's predominant feeling, so if you find yourself experiencing those types of feelings, know that you aren't alone.

But still, what can you do about it? Dr. Grant suggests finding something you can do that brings you into a state of flow, where you experience absorption to the point of losing track of time, can help to break the spell of languishing. And the astrological transits this week may help with just that.

Sunday begins with Mercury in Taurus trining Pluto in Capricorn, an excellent combination for getting centered and concentrating that may allow you to zero in on what you must do with laser-like attention. To support this even more, Venus in Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces on Sunday, too—a combination that promotes imagination.

Monday, however, packs a different vibe: The sun in Taurus squares Saturn, which complicates the week's start. Mercury also squares Jupiter before he exits Taurus and enters Gemini at 10:48 p.m., ET Monday night. To combat the potential of the Monday blues and Saturn's stern impact on the day, be clear on your priorities for the day before it starts. Choose one to three things maximum that you will get done in advance, and keep them simple. Monday is a day to finish old projects.

This is especially important because, in addition to the previously stated transits on Monday, we will have the waning quarter moon, too. As the moon wanes through the sign of Aquarius, it invites us to bring tasks to completion and create space for which we wish to give birth. Steady focus gives you an edge and will support you to tackle obstacles with steadfast resolution.

The rest of the week brings a focus to Venus, who rules our values. Venus trines Pluto on Thursday, helping you go deeper into your most important tasks, goals, and desires. And then, on Saturday, like Mercury did earlier in the week, she'll square Jupiter and then enter into Gemini.

With Venus and Mercury in Gemini, we'll likely begin to feel the desire to socialize and a burst of spring fever.

Mercury stays in Gemini until July 11th (an extra-long time, due to his upcoming retrograde), while Venus moves through the sign of the twins until June 2nd. With Venus and Mercury in Gemini, we'll likely begin to feel the desire to socialize and a burst of spring fever.

Tap into Venus's potential to connect you with your "why" by asking yourself the following questions: If everything goes as well as it could in the weeks ahead, what will happen? How can you become more courageous, determined, and full of passion? Remember, even small steps add up to feeling inspired. And as we move even deeper into spring, put your attention and focus on eating more fresh foods, like vegetables and fruits, and moving your body joyfully.

Drink more water, and get outside, into the sunlight. Doing so may impact your mood and help you move through the myriad emotions accompanying the ongoing collective trauma we have and are experiencing. Stay kind to yourself and treat your body, mind, and spirit with loving care. Try not to push yourself to your edge, but instead move it gently. We've all been through so much, and continuing to take it easy will amplify your resilience.

During the week ahead, aim for quality, not quantity. With so many things constantly tugging at our emotions, it's essential to go slow. Practice staying focused by limiting distractions, close social media apps, and remain disciplined for short windows of 15 to 25 minutes. Then, take a break before returning to your task. Take as much time as you can throughout the week to breathe. Feel your emotions, and process what is coming up—doing so aids your health in so many ways, supporting you to stay aware of your needs to care for yourself best.
