Why This Week’s Astrological Energy Is Especially Transformative and Powerful

The week ahead has many astrological highlights: First, Venus and Mercury square Saturn while conjoining in Taurus on Sunday, the day before the full pink supermoon in Scorpio. Then, right after the full moon on Tuesday, Pluto goes retrograde. And on Friday, the workweek closes with Uranus in a conjunction with the sun. All of this combined means that, astrologically speaking, the upcoming week is transformative, powerful and certainly not lacking of intensity.

Let's begin with unpacking the event of Venus and Mercury conjoining in Taurus, as they both make a harsh square to Saturn. Venus rules our values and love. In Taurus, she's in her home sign, a place she does exceptionally well, helping us unearth inner beauty. Mercury, in Taurus, takes a laid-back, go at its own pace tone, as he asks us to commit to our truth. In a square to Saturn, though, this combination of honesty and values brushes up against the intensity of Saturn's sober tenor.

As Venus and Mercury square Saturn, we are asked to look at the places we are avoiding the truth.

Saturn represents rules, structures, and the foundations that support life. In Aquarius, he's asking us to revolutionize the lens through which we live our lives. As Venus and Mercury square Saturn, we are asked to look at the places we are avoiding the truth and how we can better honor the most important values that drives our lives.

Saturn's impact forces us to honor the passing of time, too. So if you find yourself low in energy or standing in front of the mirror worrying about wrinkles and fine lines in your face, take a deep breath and remind yourself that with time comes wisdom. If nothing else, we can all (hopefully) say we are far wiser now than we were a year ago. Appreciating this is essential to unearthing the power of this transit and preparing for the full moon.

This full moon happens at 7° of Scorpio at 11:31 p.m., ET, on Monday night. The moon will appear enormous and bright as it is closer to Earth than usual because it is a supermoon. The moon in Scorpio asks us to go deep—Scorpio is a fixed-water sign that cares far less about superficiality than it does about getting to the heart of what's real.

In its quintessence, a Scorpio full moon is about intimacy. Yes, it's a sexy full moon, which bodes well for feeling free to explore pleasure, either with yourself or with a partner. However, it's also about excavating what's most real within, (even more so with Mercury's conjunction with Venus, Pluto’s retrograde station, and Uranus’s position this full moon).

To bring our attention back to Saturn, the lord of karma also squares the sun and moon this full moon, too, while the moon opposes Uranus. This full moon boasts a fixed T-square, and it's a tricky configuration since it highlights one of the year's most challenging transits: the Uranus-Saturn square. Shocking revelations may come to pass but the moon makes a helpful trine to Mars in Cancer, allowing for emotional awareness and empathetic connections to be formed, too.

No matter what comes up during this full moon, take time to be with and process. There's no point in avoiding the truth now, because doing so will wreak havoc on your life later. Embrace things precisely as they are, and from there, tune into the potential of what can be. This is a particularly potent full moon for magic and ritual, like making full moon water. You don't want to miss the opportunities this one unleashes—it’s great for releasing and banishing and opening up to the most profound truth within.

Come Wednesday, Pluto goes retrograde, ending the recent retrograde planet-free zone we've enjoyed since mid-February. Pluto going retrograde also has a subterranean feel. Like the days prior, Wednesday builds on the theme of things coming up from the depths within. Now's the time to confront, accept, and integrate truth, and let the rest go.

To support the process of letting go, come Friday, when the moon is waning gibbous in Capricorn, the sun and Uranus conjoin. Like a conductor, Uranus moves energy up and out. His job is to help us find liberation.

As we head into the weekend, we will likely feel way different than we did earlier in the week. It’s a turning point in the year. Keep notes in your journal about what comes to pass, and all the insight you gain along the way. You’ll want to reflect back to it later next month.
