Whether it’s the news (why does it always have to be so bad, sad, and infuriating?) or a tear-jerking drama on primetime TV, simply turning on the tube these days can feel like an emotional landmine. More and more, it feels like we need escape from something that used to provide comforting escapism.

Thankfully, Busy Philipps—your favorite Instagram personality for all things sweat, stress-busting, and self-care—is here to rescue us all from TV prison and make us feel good again. (Remember what that was like?!?)

Philipps hosts Busy Tonight, the delightful new late-night talk show on E! that air's Sunday through Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST, in which she has candid, fun, and seriously nice talks with A-list celebrities like Julia Roberts, Kristen Bell, and Tina Fey.

In fact, one of the most refreshing aspects of Busy Tonight (besides the fact that it’s now part of the late-night lineup of shows hosted by badass bosses like Samantha Bee) is that Philipps is so obviously, authentically into her guests. She isn’t just psyched to talk to the stars who stop by her show—she's the ultimate gas-up pal. Of course, that’s no surprise when you consider how lovingly she talks about her BFF Michelle Williams. Put simply, Philipps is the ultimate cheerleader, or sparkly human—a term she coined to describe someone who isn't the most famous but who radiates enough confidence that opportunities still present. And it's clear she sees the best in everyone.

With Philipps, everything is the absolute best!!!! Or her favorite thing ever!!!! And as a viewer, the positivity is infectious.

Take for instance, her recent chat with John Stamos. Philipps told the star, “You look amazing, John!” right before bringing up his wide-ranging list of accomplishments, like on Fuller House and playing with the Beach Boys. The hostess with the mostess always greets her guests affectionately and then continues to boost them up. When gabbing with Olivia Munn, Philipps called the actress “beautiful and adorable” and then praised her as a “smart cookie” who does amazing work for important causes, including the #MeToo movement.

With her, everything is the absolute best!!!! Or her favorite thing ever!!!! And as a viewer, the positivity is infectious. Watching Philipps sip drinks and gas up guests on a comfy couch might well lead you to do the same with the people in your life...and yourself. It's certainly worked for me.

In fact, it’s something therapists recommend for their clients, like Anna Halliday, LMHC. For patients struggling with low self-esteem or confidence issues, Halliday prescribes “self-affirmation,” which involves writing down one thing every day that a person appreciates about themselves. “This can include a physical quality or personality asset. I find that this exercise, though it may feel awkward at first for many, helps people to know, love, and respect themselves more,” she says.

This opens up a whole new realm of happiness, because when you start to have love for yourself, you tend to surround yourself with people who build you up rather than tear you down. Hmmm...sound like a certain talk-show host to you? “I admire the approach Busy Philipps takes in her guest interviews,” Halliday says, adding that she hopes the sparkly star's sunny attitude and kindness inspires other to feel the same exact way. Consider us inspired.
