What happens when the cool kids of wellness all gather together under one roof? A seriously inspiring party.
That’s what went down the evening of September 6, when we introduced the new Well+Good Council at Deepak Homebase in ABC Home in New York City, where partygoers got an in-person preview of our new squad of health and wellness experts who will share their insights and pro-tips on Well+Good in the days, weeks and months ahead. (Check out the awesome stories from our Council here!)
The Council Members span the wellness spectrum, from yoga guru and author Sophia Gushee, who’s become the authority on living a non-toxic life, to designer Norma Kamali, who will focus on feminism and fashion. And that’s just to name a few!
Each Council Member shared a Twitter-size anecdote about what they wish the world knew about wellness, which served as a sneak peek of the content coming soon—and showed how they’re thought-leaders in this space.

Deepak Homebase—the iconic wellness mecca born of a collaboration between ABC Home and Deepak Chopra—provided the perfectly zen setting for an evening full of good vibes.
Well+Good co-founders Alexia Brue and Melisse Gelula, along with their team of editors, hand-picked the Council Members based on their particular expertise in order to provide full coverage of all things wellness.
“Every month as Council Members, these expert contributors will share their latest research, knowledge, and their personal healthy passions on Well+Good,” Gelula explained at the event. “Having these trusted experts on the front-lines, in direct connection with W+G readers, allows us to be incredibly responsive to the questions of our readers.”
Before things got started, Council Members mingled with guests. Drew Ramsey, MD, (right) is a psychiatrist and farmer who will cover his specialty—the connection between brain health and food—for the Council.
It wouldn’t be a Well+Good party without a gorgeous veggie spread!
Gelula and Brue kicked off the night by introducing each Council Member in attendance (while leaving a few surprises for the official reveal).
The Council Members took turns sharing their thoughts on what they wished people knew about wellness as a preview to the content they will be sharing with readers starting in September.
After the presentation, guests were invited to pamper themselves with 5-free and vegan-friendly manicures from JINsoon.
Palermo Body provided the tools to create a custom aromatherapy blend, personalized to each guest’s needs. Among the varied combinations was their Reminder Alert blend, which mixed grapefruit, ginger, patchouli, and rosemary essential oils to help shift blocked energy and promote feelings of positivity and empowerment.
Guests posed for the camera to create shareable GIFs at the Simple Booth photo station (and the lighting was on point thanks to the glowing Halo stand). Click here to see the gallery of all the photo fun!
The YinOva Center offered crystal ear seed treatments (don’t worry, no piercing was involved). Ear beads made of Swarovski crystals were applied to acupressure points that either provided stress relief or an energy boost.
The signature cocktail of the evening was The Council 15—a wellness elixir created by mixologist Laura Silverman, founder of The Outside Institute that was as delicious to sip on as it was pretty.
The Council Members celebrated an amazing evening with Gelula and Brue. Among those in attendance were (from back left) McKel Hill, Candice Kumai, Drew Ramsey, Norma Kamali, Robin Berzin, Alisa Vitti, Claire Wasserman, Sophia Gushee, and Joey Gonzalez.
And they snapped some selfies, of course.
Partygoers took home gift bags brimming with goodies (because we’d never invite you to a party without party favors).
