YogaWorks, Los Angeles’s homegrown yoga-chain-turned-mega-brand, is set to open its fourteenth location in the hip enclave of Los Feliz on Thursday, September 18 (with an opening event 5:30–8:30 p.m.). Fun fact: Its first opened in Santa Monica in 1987.
The new studio is housed in the former Gershwin Hotel building on Hollywood Boulevard, but you won’t be checking in for just savasana. YogaWorks has become known for its incredibly wide range of yoga styles, and increasingly, fitness methods, and the new Eastside studio is no different.
The eco-friendly, sustainable modern space will have a large (1,400 square feet) practice room with skylights and fitted with their signature Great Wall, which means TRX straps, yoga ropes and ballet bar will feature prominently in the classes.
Fifty-some classes are currently on the schedule, covering everything from traditional Iyengar, Hatha, and vinyasa flow to Pilates mat and TRX, led by a roster of such YogaWorks veterans as Ashley Prideaux, Billy Gill, Jeanne Heileman and Jenny Aurthur.
It’ll also have a boutique for yoga retail therapy—and mats—and a Tea Lounge. —Rachel Marlowe
