The New York City-based vegan comfort food joint, which East Coasters have been freaking out over since it first opened in 2015, has announced that it’s heading west by way of Silver Lake’s forthcoming small-format, affordably-priced 365 by Whole Foods Market concept. When it debuts in May, it’ll be the latest in a recent burst of expansion for By Chloe, which is also landing in NYC’s Flatiron District and SoHo this year.
“We always loved the idea of expanding outside of NYC. With Chloe having grown up in LA, when the opportunity presented itself, it seemed like the right choice,” says Samantha Wasser, who co-founded By Chloe with 28-year-old chef (and Cupcake Wars winner) Chloe Coscarelli. The space, which will offer both dine-in and takeaway service, plans to serve up the same signature fast-casual faves as the NYC locations—quinoa taco salads, mac-and-cheese with shiitake bacon, and air-baked fries, for starters—as well as market specials based on what’s in-season locally.
“By Chloe embodies so much of what we were looking for in a Friend of 365—Chloe is an innovator with values that align with ours,” a Whole Foods spokesperson tells us. “She will bring a unique culinary experience to our Silver Lake store.” Wasser concurs: “It’s inside a grocery store, which is truly a different experience for us… but one we’re excited about!”
