When it’s 70 degrees and you’re in need of a pick-me-up, it’s definitely time to switch out the steaming bulletproof coffee you’ve been sipping all winter.

In need of bright ideas, we turned to Charlee Atkins—the creator of Le Sweat, senior instructor at SoulCycle, and woman who never stops moving—for her go-to energizing juice recipe.

“I’m always chasing summer, and grapefruit reminds me of a beach vacation. Since spring is practically summer, my mix of choice is grapefruit, beets, ginger, and lemon,” the sculpting guru says. “Rituals are essential to me, and morning juice is a part of my morning ritual.”

The element that really upgraded her juice game? Switching to a slow juicer, which cold-presses fresh ingredients without added heat. “I used to hit up a juice bar, but I don’t trust what’s in the bottles anymore because I can’t see exactly how much of each ingredient is going in, which is why I choose to juice at home,” she says. (We tried at-home slow-juicing ourselves and can confirm: It’s amazing.)

Charlee Atkins’ Energizing Spring Juice

Naturally, her pick is brimming with health-boosting vitamins and minerals from. “I try to keep my immunity up since I expose myself to a lot of sweaty bodies a day,” says the fitness instructor, who teaches a mix of indoor cycling and strength-and-conditioning classes. “The juice is high in Vitamin C, and if I feel a cold coming on, I can always add cayenne pepper.”

After Well+Good Retreats, Atkins discovered another game-changer. “I learned from my co-host Candice Kumai that you can always throw in some greens and they mix in really well. So to green up my go-to juice, I’ve started adding spinach.” With inflammation-fighting dark, leafy greens, it’s healthier than ever.

Ingredients
1 grapefruit, peeled and sliced
1-inch piece of ginger, chopped
1 beet, chopped
½ lemon, peeled
Handful of spinach, optional
Pinch of cayenne pepper, optional
