If you're not using a cast iron skillet to make every meal, what are you even doing? It seems like almost everything cooks faster, crispier, tastier—just better—with cast iron. Launching today online, Lodge has a new nine-piece collection of cast iron for making everything from cinnamon buns to bread. Cast iron may not be the first thing you reach for when whipping up baked goods, Andrea Mathis, RDN, an Alabama-based dietitian says it's one of the best ways to achieve great results.

"I love to bake sweet rolls, quick breads, and cakes in my cast iron cookware," she says. "I love cooking sweet recipes in cast iron skillets because they are super durable and are naturally non-stick. This feature comes in handy, especially when you are cooking a sweet recipe that may contain a syrupy filling. That filling will not stick to the skillet and it will be very easy to clean in preparation for your next recipe."

Lodge's bakeware line features four new pieces: a pie pan ($23), a casserole dish ($43), a baking pan ($43), and a baker’s skillet ($23). It also includes a redesign of  the brand's pizza pan ($43), loaf pan ($23), wedge pan ($23), and cornstick pan ($23).

“Lodge Cast Iron’s new bakeware line is an exciting next step for us as we bring the most well-known features of cast iron to bakeware that’s made to deliver results and stand the test of time,” says Mike Otterman, president and CEO of Lodge Cast Iron, in a press release. “From delivering the perfect, crispy crust at your family’s pizza night to baking gooey cinnamon rolls that will become a Saturday morning tradition, our bakeware will help make food delicious for your family for many years to come. We can’t wait to see what new and creative recipes come to life using this line.”

Each product comes pre-seasoned (read: oiled to prevent sticking and rusting) and features a dual-handle design to make lifting them in and out of the oven easier.

"Cast iron cookware is supposed to remain oiled to prevent it from rusting, so in some cases, I do not have to prep my cookware, but on occasion, I will grease it with a light coating of cooking oil before baking," says Mathis.

Especially if you're not used to baking in cast iron, be sure to keep an eye on whatever it is you're baking.

"Cast iron holds heat very well," says Mathis. "I would suggest checking on your baked goods a little more frequently when baking in cast iron, rather than adjusting the time or temperature." This also means it'll be extremely hot to the touch, so be sure to have oven mitts nearby!
