Is Selena Gomez’s song Good For You about ginger? It just might be. In her guest appearance on The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke—as covered by Voguethe pop star revealed her morning health obsession: eating (or drinking) ginger.

“I like ginger shots,” she tells host James Corden. “I actually like to eat a piece of ginger every morning. It’s so good.”

The star then goes on to demonstrate her shot-taking prowess—then hands Corden a mini bottle containing a ginger shot, demanding it go “down the hatch” while assuring the hesitant comedian: “You’re not going to get sick.” Preach, Gomez. Quite the opposite, in fact—ginger is known for its strong medicinal properties, reputedly fighting inflammation and boosting your immunity.

After easily chugging her bottle, Gomez praises its powers. “It’s killing everything inside—all of the bad things.”

Ingredients
1/2-inch piece of ginger
1/2 lemon
Pinch of cayenne pepper

Wash the ginger and lemon. Peel the lemon. Put the ginger and lemon in your juicer. Pour a shot, sprinkle some cayenne pepper on top and voila.
