The Less Sugary Staples This in-Demand Food Stylist Always Has in Her Fridge

When you’re super busy, being unorganized can seriously derail your day (week?). That’s why keeping keeping everything in your life streamlined is key—and that includes your refrigerator.

Ashley Marti gets it. The food stylist and visionary behind Instagram account Local Haven has jam-packed days, which also include raising a family in Portland, Oregon. “Since I’m on-the-go so much with photo shoots and traveling and having kids, keeping a stocked fridge is really important,” she says.

To make life easier, Marti stocks cooked grains that she uses to meal prep for the week and lower-sugar snacking essentials like celery ("It's the most underrated vegetable") and apples. “There are so many hidden sugars in a lot of food, and I’ve noticed that hidden sugar doesn’t make me feel good,” she explains.

To that end, siggi’s plain yogurt is a daily staple for Marti. “It’s the base for my favorite salad dressings, it helps bulk up my smoothies, and it’s really great served with grains and roasted vegetables.”

And on weekends, when her schedule is lighter, Marti focuses on recipes that require a little more time, like a beautiful yogurt bowl with all the fixings (she is a food stylist, after all). “It’s nice to slow down a little bit and make some special low-sugar meals my family loves and makes us feel great.”
