Argument: It’s never too early to start getting excited about that vacation you’re eager to take this summer. That sunburn you’re likely to get on said trip, however? The thought of it doesn’t exactly spark joy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared with a bottle of soothing aloe mist in tow.

While a dollop of the OG aloe gel will get the job done, these spray-on versions allow you to target specific areas and have better control over the amount you’re applying, making the sticky texture left behind a distant memory. Aside from enlisting the powers of the plant’s soothing benefits, these formulas serve up an extra side of nourishing ingredients to ease the healing process.

Here, we put together a list of our favorite aloe mists to give your skin some post-sun hydration.

Soleil Toujours Aloe Antioxidant Calming Mist, $26

The skin-soothing perks of aloe come together with green tea and potent vitamins C and E, so that as you’re packing skin with all of the good stuff (ahem: major hydration), you’re also helping to fend off future damage that could come from environmental aggressors. Talk about a one-two punch.

Herbivore Botanicals After-Sun Soothing Aloe Mist, $20

One pump imparts the same cooling effect as an ice cube placed directly on the affected area, but is a lot more effective at giving your skin the TLC it needs. Calming ingredients like lavender and mint work in tandem to soothe even the angriest burns, while delivering some much-needed hydration.

Moroccanoil After-Sun Milk, $28

What do you get when you cross the soothing properties of aloe with a lightweight body lotion? Moroccanoil’s After-Sun Milk, of course. It works overtime to nourish and re-hydrate after too much time in the sun. The gorgeous, monoi-scented mist is practically a spa treatment in a bottle, and your skin will drink in the moisturizing benefits of argan and coconut oils on contact.

Hampton Sun Hydrating Aloe Mist, $28

Dressed up with a similar nozzle to that spray-on sunscreen you forgot to re-apply, Hampton Sun’s menthol and aloe-infused spritzer covers just as much ground, allowing you to target even that weird space in the center of your back you couldn’t quite reach. The uber-fine mist relieves the itchy, tight feeling and takes your skin’s temperature down a few degrees almost immediately.

Pacifica Sun + Skincare After-Sun Pineapple Flower Body Spray, $11

Consider this a fragrance with a very active extracurricular calendar. While the tropical pineapple flower scent is gorgeous on its own, we’re singing praises for the infusion of aloe, lavender, and cucumber, which help to calm and soothe your skin after a long day at the pool.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Soothing Aloe Mist, $6

Talk about a cheap thrill—at $6, you could theoretically stash spare bottles of E.L.F.’s aloe and vitamin E-rich spritzer in as many places as you once hid boxes of Girl Scout Cookies. Throw one your gym bag to soothe your skin after a run, in your carry-on to combat sunburn on vacation, or in your fridge to impart an instant cooling sensation not unlike the Thin Mints that once occupied your freezer.

Farmaesthetics Cool Aloe Mist, $26

Let the deep blue exterior be a preview of the ultra-chill sensation this aloe, bergamot, and lavender mist imparts on red, inflamed skin. The botanical blend works overtime to minimize the aftereffects of particularly bad burns, and helps to keep itching and peeling at bay as you nurse your skin back to its former state.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balance Mist, $32

In addition to cooling off an aggressive burn, the addition of witch hazel and rosewater can also help to calm any breakouts on your face and body so that you don’t have to deal with both the peeling and potential bacne all at once.

For heaven’s sake, do not get a sunburn in the first place! The best tool is prevention, so slather on these SPFs and whatever you do, do not forget the most overlooked spot on the body.
