There’s just something inherently chic about the British. Chalk it up to their instantly cool-seeming accent or quick-witted humo(u)r, but there’s one trait about Londoners that is undeniably cool—their style.

No matter if they’re running out to the corner store or hitting up their favorite studio post-work, they can take an athleisure look from casual to chic, in no time.

To find out how to get that cool-girl London look, we tapped Tamara Hill-Norton, founder and creative director of Sweaty Betty, who knows a thing or two about Brit style—and is helping women everywhere achieve the same look, effortlessly.

“I need versatility in my workout wardrobe as I am constantly on the go,” she explains. “I like to mix smart and relaxed shapes, and modern fabrics with more natural ones.”

So how do you make sweat sesh-ready outfit look amazing? “When I’m not working out, I always think layers are key when styling leggings,” Hill-Norton says. “I like to throw them on with a longer line top, like a big, patterned knitted poncho or—for a smarter look—pairing leggings with a tailored jacket and platform trainers.”

Below, take a look at three of the style maven’s favorite looks—with cool Brittannia styling for each.
