“The new wave of effortless hair we saw on the runway this season is so big right now for that main reason: It’s literally effortless,” says Shahenez Turkmani, a stylist at New York City’s Adel Atelier Salon. “Whether it’s a serious middle part or combed straight back while letting the ends dry as you run to the train, this look doesn’t require a lot of styling. It’s undone yet feels timeless.”
You’ve definitely seen it on it-girls like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, and Turkmani promises it’s something you can do too—even while rushing out of the locker room.
“After washing your hair, towel dry it and use a boar bristle brush to style it to the side or middle part—this will smooth down any frizz or fly aways,” she says. If you’re in a hurry (or are a runway purist), Turkmani says air drying will give you more volume—you can smooth things down with just a little bit of balm or wax. (Good news for those who prefer not to haul a travel blow dryer in their gym bag.)
