Fitness fashion dos and don’ts from We Wore What’s Danielle Bernstein

With over 1 million Instagram followers, Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What is a highly influential blogger in the fashion realm. And with the activewear category increasingly becoming a part of that world, it seems only natural that Bernstein would start documenting and designing her own workout looks, too.

Behold We Wore What’s latest collaboration on a five-piece capsule collection with Los Angeles-based activewear designer Strut This, sold exclusively at Bandier, which demonstrates Bernstein’s unique sense of style with two pairs of on-trend high-waisted leggings, two sports bras, and one sweatshirt in complementary dark palm leaf and black marble prints emblazoned with the phrase “Like A Girl.”

“My personal workout style is more black and white, but I’m definitely not afraid to use some pattern,” Bernstein says. “I always do a sports bra and high-waisted leggings combo, but I like to switch up, especially because I’m always taking photos.”

Incorporate trendy patterns like marble and palm print with matching colors so it looks like a full outfit.”

Match your sneakers to your outfit color-wise. It’s a small detail that people should care about.”

Tie a plaid shirt around your waist if you’re running outside for a cool, casual look. It doesn’t matter if it clashes with your other patterns. It’s some extra accessorizing.”


Wear an old over-sized t-shirt. You want workout clothes you can be proud to be seen in.”

Wear a sports bra and leggings if you’re feeling bloated. Wear a cropped t-shirt or a tank over that still shows your cool sports bra instead.”

Go for colorful running shoes. I have pairs in white, black, and grey. I switch off between those and they go with everything I own.”
