Healthy Valentine’s Day: Thai massage edition

Come February 14, nearly every yoga studio in town turns into a couple's spa suite for Thai massage.

As Valentine’s Day rolls around, it seems like every yoga studio in town turns into a spa suite for couples’ Thai massage. And that’s not a bad thing.

Thai massage is one of the few forms of bodywork that you actually wear clothes for, so it’s totally acceptable to do in public. (Phew!)

And the poses that Thai massage therapists typically put you in (or your significant other on V-Day) are of the stretching variety, such that it’s often called lazy man’s yoga. It’s this interactivity of Thai massage and its giving and receiving format that links it to Valentine’s Day. That and the fact that if your sweetie pesters you for a back massage almost daily, going to one of these workshops is nearly same thing.

Here are a handful of Thai massage workshops that say it’s February 14 in New York City. —Jamie McKillop and Melisse Gelula
