When it comes to beauty, Heather Dorak‘s philosophy is as streamlined as the Megaformer machines she uses at Platinum Pilates, the chain of California studios she founded. “I’m definitely a minimalist when it comes to products, makeup, and hair,” she says.

That glow, though. How does she get it? Dorak—who says she became a natural beauty convert several years ago, after realizing her makeup bag needed as much scrutiny as her grocery bag—explains that she takes special care of her face, and doesn’t make the mistake many other trainers do: over-cleansing. “That’s big with people in the workout industry,” she says. “It’s easy to feel like you constantly have to wash your face, but it actually does harm. So I just wipe water on my face to get the sweat off.”

Plus, the California girl (a big fan of oils, thanks to her mom) is smart about sun protection. “I always stay hydrated, wear SPF, and throw on a hat because I’m outside a lot,” she says. Kudos to that.

Read on for her five all-time favorite natural beauty products.

1. Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil ($40)

I just love oils—for my body, my face, and I even use a diffuser at home. My mom got me into them. It’s important to me to keep my face hydrated, and this gives it a nice plump and makes my face feel full. I never have that dry cracking around the eyes. It’s always my go-to.

2. African Botanics Marula Firming Botanical Body Oil ($70)

One good thing about my clients is that they always introduce me to wonderful products, and oftentimes they’ll leave me stuff and I discover things that way. A client of mine told me about this one—and who doesn’t like a little firming body oil? You work hard to keep it tight, so why not just try to make it a little more firm?

3. RMS Beauty Living Luminizer ($38)

This one I definitely keep in my purse. It is just an easy highlighter that doesn’t really look like you’re wearing anything, but gives me the illusion that I took the time to get myself ready.

4. Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ($55)

I think it’s important to do peels and scrubs because, being outside and living in a city like Los Angeles or New York, there’s so much pollution and you’re exposed to so many toxins. It feels nice to know I’m taking off a layer of my skin every week with this mask. Typically peels can be harsh or create redness, but not this one.

5. Kjaer Weis Dazzling Bronzer ($56)

This is another one I keep in my purse. It provides a hint of color and doesn’t look like heavy makeup. I’ll use this and curl my lashes typically, and if I want to dress up I’ll do the occasional red lipstick. But this bronzer is all I really wear.
