Over the past decade, celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan has built quite a roster of A-list clientele (the Jenner-Kardashian clan, for example), who are no doubt chasing that special magic she brings to each look she creates. Under the mentorship of her pal Jen Atkin, she developed her unique point of view, which is decidedly polished with a dash of effortless edge.

Today, she bounces between the coasts, delivering that special sauce, and living and dreaming all things hair care. So when I ask her about the products that make her kit (without forcing her to take the whole salon with her) she quickly rattles off a handful that transcend the usual shampoo, conditioner, hair spray variety. For starters, she believes that good hair starts from within and hey, a silk pillowcase doesn’t hurt either.

Keep scrolling to find out how she’d shop for beauty under $100.

Tresemme Hair Spray

Tresemme Compressed Micro Mist Level 4 Hairspray$5

“This hair spray is lightweight, flexible, and doesn’t leave the hair feeling stiff or sticky. I’ll spray it directly on the hair and brush through before heat styling, I’ll spray it after styling to seal in a look, or I’ll spray it on a brush and rake through the hair for flexible hold,” she tells me. “I also like to spray it on a toothbrush and brush around the hairline and part to tame frizz and control the hair around the face.”

Olly Undeniable Beauty Gummy Vitamins$14

“I take two daily,” says Marjan. “My nails feel stronger and my hair is longer and shinier from just a few months. They taste amazing and I can take them when I crave something sweet. I look forward to taking them every day, and I know that they are working to help my hair, skin, and nails.”

Ouai Wave Spray

Ouai Wave Spray Travel, $12

“Less is more with this one. Start with a little (on damp or dry hair) and add more as needed. It gives hair great texture,” she says. “I use it before diffusing hair, or I let it set with long metal clips for a natural-looking wave. Unlike most other wave sprays, which are made with drying sea salt, this one is made with rice protein and won’t dry out hair.”

Cocokind spray

CocoKind Golden Elixir$9

“I use this on my skin and hair for instant hydration,” says Marjan. “I massage it into my face and let it sink into my skin, especially on the plane. For hair, I use it as a pre-shampoo treatment by letting it absorb into my hair and scalp for 20 minutes and shampooing it out. You can also work a small amount into towel-dried hair before styling. It’s formulated with omega oils, fatty acids, and vitamins A and E, which makes it a regenerative oil for all skin and hair types.”

Silk pillowcase

The Hollywood Silk Solution Silk Pillowcase$45

“Switching to a silk pillowcase allows your hair and skin to keep their natural oils instead of being absorbed into a cotton pillowcase, which pulls out moisture,” explains Marjan. “Since switching to silk, I no longer wake up with frizzy bedhead and my hair stays smooth while I sleep. Plus, I can cut down on styling time in the morning and my skin feels more hydrated and healthy.”

Glossier Balm Dotcom

Glossier Balm Dotcom in Rose$12

“I literally use this lip balm all day,” admits Marjan. “First thing in the morning, on a flight, and mid-day when I need some hydration. I squeeze it directly on my lips—it’s super thick, hydrating, and smells amazing!”
