You already know that Kanye West has some fitness chops (remember his “New Workout Plan” back in 2004?)—but the hip-hop star-turned-fashion designer proved it once again yesterday at New York Fashion Week.
Debuting his latest Yeezy collection, West combined high-performance technical pieces with his signature low-impact athleisure vibe—layering oversized sweaters and cardigans over compression wetsuits by 2XU, the activewear brand worn by triathletes, long-distance runners, and swimmers.
Showing at NYFW is a big deal for any brand, but 2XU’s CEO Paul Higgins says he was particularly thrilled to work with West this past month getting ready for the runway: “To have 2XU form part of the latest Yeezy collection was a very proud moment,” he says. “We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past 12 years to become the choice of the world’s sporting elite, so to now be brought on by Kanye takes our success to the main stage of fashion as well.”
And the Yeezy show proved that the super-athletic wear works just as well when paired with stilettos. (West has always has had an eye for trendspotting, hasn’t he?) I expect to see Khloe Kardashian rocking this look in no time.
