Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson, a.k.a. the women of Tone It Up, are known to their online community as the sunkissed California duo that post workouts and recipes on the reg.
But as of January 9, the two cute-and-quirky fitness fanatics brought their bikinis to the reality-TV-loving Bravo Channel for their new show Toned Up. (Perhaps inspiring Real Housewives of New York lovers to trade their Pinot Grigio for a green juice?)
Other than their lovable and silly personalities, you’ll notice something else while watching the show: their super-cute fitness fashion. “Every woman deserves to feel sexy no matter what, including when they’re in their workout clothes,” Dawn says. “I sometimes transition my workout clothes to office or even meetings. So, I think it’s also important to find something that’s fashionable and functional.”
While Dawn dresses in black with pops of color to transition from work to sweat, Hodgson tends to go for a more fun and flirty approach. “I like to wear a lot of color from head to toe, so I guess we balance each other out,” Hodgson says. “Oh, and accessories are a girl’s best friend… even when working out.”
Here’s what they’re wearing to workout on and off screen…besides bikinis. —Jamie McKillop
Oakley Women’s RSVP Sunglasses in Tortoise Black and Gold Iridium ($150) I love the iconic ’50s and ’60s influence with a modern flair. They’re a fun and funky pair that can be worn as a fashion piece, but can also function as active sunglasses with their no-slip features and ultra-light frame.
Gap x GQ Aviator Nation Corduroy Trucker Hat in Navy ($30) If you follow Tone It Up, you probably notice I wear a lot of hats. They’re great for on-the-go style and protection when working out under the sun. I love the Aviator Nation trucker hats because they are inspired by beach life and come in fabulous colors, and this affordable one is sold at The Gap.
Victoria’s Secret VS Sport VS Knockout Jacket ($90) I’m obsessed with the entire new VS Sport line. They really know how to make a woman feel sexy when she works out. This is the perfect Southern California winter running jacket with its breathable panels and thumb-holes to keep you warm.
Asics Gel Kayano 19 ($106) When Karena and I first met we both just happened to swear by Asics. We’ve worn a lot of running shoes, but these have the perfect arch support for both of us, I guess. I love all the funky color combos Asics comes up with, too. This one with the pink and lime is really fun.
