Actress Kate Hudson is the first to admit that she’s about as immune to acne as she is to Matthew McConaughey’s charm.

“I’ll have three [good] days, and then boom, I’ve got pimples showing up. I’ve had a hard time figuring it out,” she recently told Vogue. (Same, girl.)

But the Fabletics founder revealed that she’s finally unlocked the key to keeping her breakouts at bay: a vegan diet.

“When I went vegan last summer, my skin was the best it’s ever been—skin tone, pores, everything.”

“When I went vegan last summer, my skin was the best it’s ever been—skin tone, pores, everything,” says Hudson. (After all, a clear complexion comes from within.) But not all healthy eating approaches have worked for the actress. “Then I did Paleo, and what was interesting about Paleo was my skin wasn’t as good.”

No matter what plan she happens to be following, however, Hudson says her main focus is always the same: eating healthy—and saving room for something sweet. “If I happen to be at a restaurant and they send out a dessert, I’m going to eat the dessert,” she says. Looks like McConaughey might have a rival for her affection after all.
