We want to recognize the fitness instructors who don’t just look great on Instagram—but actually inspire us to be better. So together with ReebokONE, we asked you to nominate trainers for the second annual America’s Most Inspiring Trainer search. After over a thousand amazing stories, we’ve narrowed it down to 12 finalists—which means it’s time for you to choose a winner! Learn more about Connor Griffin below, and cast your vote by November 26.

Connor Griffin, Dedham, Massachusetts

Personal trainer and head coach at CrossFit Boston Iron & Grit

His personal mantra

Something I say to myself is a quote, “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.”

His favorite post-workout smoothie

Almond milk, chocolate whey protein, frozen strawberries, strawberry Greek yogurt, banana, and spinach.

What inspired you to become a trainer?

Becoming a trainer to me meant inspiring communities to grow physically and mentally stronger. Having others share the same passion as I do for fitness and enjoying pushing themselves is what I strive for. Every day is a learning day as a trainer, and I continue to grow as not only a trainer, but a friend to the community I work with.

“Becoming a trainer to me meant inspiring communities to grow physically and mentally stronger.”

What’s your favorite success story as a trainer?

My first client had a non-active tumor in her head. Every day—no matter what—she would be positive, coming into the gym with the biggest smile on her face. She continued CrossFit, and decided to start coaching kids. To have someone be this grateful for what I did for them, even if it is creating a workout for them, opened my eyes to the honor of being a trainer.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve discovered about being a fitness pro?

Usually by the end of the week, everyone is exhausted from work and busy schedules, but my Friday night classes are packed. I’m amazed by the dedication and passion that my community has and their drive makes me strive to work harder for them.

The winner of America’s Most Inspiring Trainer will score a one-year contract with Reebok and major coverage on Well+Good. Cast your vote now!
