No matter how busy supermodel Christie Brinkley is, she always makes time for her health—even if that means multitasking to the extreme and squeezing in a workout while she’s checking off other items from her to-do list.
And being her healthiest self has been ingrained in her mind since she was a kid. The longtime “sort-of-ish” vegan told The Cut that while growing up in Malibu, her “only candy was carob-covered rose hips,” after all. And throughout her life, the Uptown Girl hasn’t wavered in prioritizing a healthy lifestyle—and she has some creative hacks to fit everything into her schedule.
“Some days the only thing I can get in is a seven-minute run on the Total Gym. Then while I’m brushing my teeth, I’m doing leg lifts. When I’m drying my hair, I do all kinds of squats.” —Christie Brinkley
“As far as exercise goes, everyone always asks if I use the Total Gym and yes, I really do. But I also might go to a spin class or work with weights. I would say running is my favorite way to sweat, but I’m not really supposed to do that anymore because of injuries,” Brinkley told The Cut. “Some days the only thing I can get in is a seven-minute run on the Total Gym. Then while I’m brushing my teeth, I’m doing leg lifts. When I’m drying my hair, I do all kinds of squats.”
Checking multiple items off her list at once ensures Brinkley is able to conquer her day and do her body some good. And she’s not the only one who uses the clever sneak-it-in workout technique: Ballerina Misty Copeland also does a quick workout before her day is barely started, with 20 relevés on each foot—AKA calf raises with turned-out feet.
So this whole no-time-to-work-out thing has gotta stop. Everyone brushes their teeth (or, at least, definitely should), so everyone has time to tone their calves.
