Master Dance Cardio Moves: The Push, with Anna Kaiser

Dance cardio is a super-fun, where-did-the-hour-go workout that leaves you drenched in sweat and pumping with endorphins. But it can be intimidating if you don’t know the moves.

So we partnered with the brilliant Anna Kaiser, founder of AKT and trainer to celebs like Kelly Ripa and Shakira, and star of a new transformation show on ABC, to deconstruct dance cardio moves down to their “I-can-do-this!” elements. And you’re seeing the debut video right now!

In this Well+Good series, Kaiser shows you the fundamentals of a few signature moves—then she takes you step-by-step through dressing them up, adding in some major style, and enhancing the intensity for those times when you really want to get your heart pounding.

Get ready to learn the Push today, plus the Rocking Horse, the Grapevine, Turn and Party, and the Squat Toss. Practice these at home (ideally while your favorite song is blasting), then head to a dance cardio studio workout feeling confident that you can hold your own in the front row.

And while these are signature AKT moves, the dance cardio vocabulary is similar no matter the method (pretty much every class uses a variation of the Grapevine, for example).

Which means that no matter where you live and what you have access to, you’ll be able to put your newfound knowledge to work. …And 5, 6, 7, 8!

Ready to take it to the dance floor in a class? Here’s what you need to know before your first dance cardio studio visit.
