Meghan Trainor is a vocal powerhouse and confidence queen. To remind us of this once again, she recently turned her first-ever Zumba experience into a music video for her latest single, “No Excuses.”

“Dance is the best workout,” the Grammy winner said in a behind-the-scenes video promoting the single. “When I have rehearsal days, when I dance all day long, I don’t work out after that. I’m like, ‘That was a tough workout today!’ I’m always dripping sweat, but I feel beautiful and sexy and have fun, and it’s one of my favorite workouts.”

So it makes perfect sense that Trainor had her “No Excuses” video pull double duty as a full-on Zumba class. (She’s actually the first recording artist to star in an official Zumba choreography video. #pioneer.) The singer admits she used to walk by Zumba classes at her gym and hear her songs playing, but she was too nervous to go in. Now? She’s clearly overcome those doubts—and wants to help you do the same. The key? Less shaking in your boots and more shaking your booty.

“I want this choreography to empower everyone out there to get on their feet, and I want them to think about respect and sassiness and loving yourself.” —Meghan Trainor

“I want this choreography to empower everyone out there to get on their feet, and I want them to think about respect and sassiness and loving yourself,” Trainor said.

The video, choreographed and directed by viral dance-content mastermind Tim Milgram, features Trainor and an all-female crew (“my girls,” she calls them) performing simple choreography to the upbeat single. Watch Trainor shake it with the best of ’em (while rockin’ a high pony), and join in to work up a sweat. Making a veritable gym out of your living room is a big trend this year, after all.
