This 16-Minute Workout Strengthens Your Chest and Back for Better Posture

In the latest episode of Good Moves, New York City trainer Sashah Handal offers a resistance band workout aimed at restoring your body by strengthening your back and chest for better posture.

Handal's 16-minute resistance band workout for better posture is so helpful because the last year has taken a toll not just mentally but physically as well. "We'll be utilizing a push-and-pull move pattern, alternating both your back and your chest as we go through the sequence," she says. "And this is going to be great for anyone who really needs to perk up their posture, strengthen their core, or just strengthen their overall back muscles."

While Handal demonstrates the moves with a long handled resistance band, she notes that her exact band isn't necessary equipment. "If you don't have a long band with handles attached to it, do not worry," she says. "You can use any long band or any Theraband that you have at home, as we will be utilizing this in many different ways and not just with the handles."

Good posture is important for your health and well-being, too. Slumping is bad for your back and can lead to chronic pain and, perhaps surprisingly, it's not good for your teeth, either. If you've been working from bed for the last year, or just "commuting" solely from the bed to your desk to the couch, press play on the video to straighten things out at long last.
