Summer Runnin’: Tanks and shorts get light and bright

Running apparel is leaving muted shades in the dust and lunging towards bright neons, regal purples, and bold prints. Here are a few hot items for summer.

Running apparel is leaving muted, boyish shades in the dust and lunging towards bright neons, regal purples, and prints like florals and polka dots.

“Right now fitness fashion is putting on a happy face,” says Jack Rabbit’s apparel buyer Dina Pappalardo. “Brooks’ current campaign is called ‘Run Happy’, and I think that’s a good tagline for the season overall,” she observes.

The sense of fun is carrying over into the functional design of the items, producing lightweight clothing that keeps you cool and doesn’t weigh down your workouts.

“Innovative fabrics are everywhere this season,” says Pappalardo.  “Not only can you feel like you’re going faster, but you stay comfortable so you can go further.”
