This five-minute full-body workout is guaranteed to leave you burning, says Emily Cook Harris, founder of EMpowered—her personal training studio—and instructor at NYC’s Fhitting Room. It’s all about getting strong and lean, by combining strength and cardio in small bursts: Think squats translating to sitting in a chair, and lunging as walking up stairs.
“I think it’s so important to translate moves to things you’re doing in real life—functional training is training for life,” Harris tells us.
When you feel great and confident in your body you’re more confident in all aspects in life.
But strength isn’t all Harris is looking to help build. Confidence is right up there with a strong body (not to mention the foundation of her personal brand EMpowered). “I used to dance and I felt how it translated out of the classroom—when you feel great and confident in your body you’re more confident in all aspects in life,” Harris explains. “So I try to build workouts—this five-minute body burn included—that allow for all levels of fitness to succeed and push themselves, while getting results and feeling empowered.”
