While Chad Turner was doing yoga in Bali, he had a realization that killed his bliss: All of the yoga mats around him were ugly. See what he did about it.

While Chad Turner was doing yoga on a vacation in Bali, he had a realization that killed his bliss: All of the yoga mats around him were ugly.

“All I saw was a sea of unoriginal, massed-produced, solid-colored mats. My thinking was, there must be a way of creating a highly functional product that was also aesthetically beautiful,” says Turner, noting the disconnect even more acutely in paradise.

Now, the hunky 30-something lives on Bali where he runs Yoga Design Lab, making awesome printed mats and towels that feel more like a cool work of art. (And are reasonably priced at $68.)
