Surprise! a Post-Basel Dance Party Turned Out to Be the Best Workout Ever

A weekend getaway to Miami usually puts a very, very heavy emphasis on the “fun” aspect of “fun in the sun”—especially during the first week of December, when thousands flock to the seaside city for Art Basel. So, we decided to aid in some post-party recovery with our latest Well+Good Retreat, where we took advantage of the December sun in the 305 (a much, much needed respite from the freezing weather in NYC right now) with four days of R&R at The Standard Spa in Miami Beach.

In addition to outdoor workouts and dinners under the stars (real talk: there are few things more exhilarating than breaking bread with a crystal healer, then retreating to a campfire), beauty lovers also got the chance to enjoy The Standard's world-renowned spa with treatments like hot stone massages, collagen facials, and baths inspired by the traditions of global bathing cultures around the world.

"Party in the city where the heat is on," is right—but instead of bottle service, we had unlimited yoga and Health-Ade kombucha mocktails, which is just the way we like it. Keep scrolling for a glimpse into the Well+Good Retreat at The Standard Miami Beach.

Guests arrived at The Standard's beautiful Miami property and were greeted to a bag stocked with recovery friendly goodies from some of our favorite self care brands. Beauty products from Teleties, Ren Skincare, Ursa Major, Clark's Botanicals, Au Naturale Cosmetics, Indie Lee, and Countertop; calming herbs from Gaia; scarves from Free People; tech goodies from Ban.do; a self-cleaning water bottle from Soma; and, of course, because it wouldn't be a trip to Miami without a few hours by the pool, sunscreen from CLEAN, W+G baseball caps, and super-chic totes from Think Royln, which doubled as the perfect as beach bags.

In true Well+Good style, the mornings were spent experiencing a wellness-ified version of Miami life. Guests participated in a Dance Cardio Sculpt Class with Obé trainer Megan Roup, a high-energy dance class that made everyone feel like they were living it up at a club in South Beach...without the hangover.

Then, it was time for yoga with a hint of reiki, care of Obé trainer Francesca Valerezzo. The chilled-out half an hour each day helped transform everyone’s energized Miami endorphins into a totally chilled-out vibe, which was the perfect entrée for spending afternoons lounging by the pool and taking advantage of The Standard's legendary spa.

Because Basel was in full swing, there was plenty of art worth checking out throughout the city, and attendees were treated to a private art tour for a sense of what Basel is truly all about.

Evening activities were all about chilling out. Whether guests opted to hang out by The Standard’s iconic fire pit, take a meditation session with Francesca, or experience a sound bath or some crystal healing with Lauren Unger at The Sacred Space Miami, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

And obviously, it wouldn’t be a wellness retreat without plenty of healthy food to enjoy, from post-workout brunches to dinners under the stars, it was a clean eater's culinary dream. With mocktails, spiked with Health-Ade kombucha, there was plenty to cheers about over the four days of wellnessified fun in the sun.
