A new mega fitness event (for charity) takes over Union Square this June

union squareA mega fitness event—with outdoor Spinning, cardio dance, and boot camp classes for charity—will take over Union Square on June 1 to raise funds for City of Hope’s Positive Image Center.

Fit & Fearless Fitness was conceptualized by Jocelyn Levy, a fitness world PR pro who in previous years co-created the similar Sports Bra Challenge (That foundation and event is no longer active—so you can keep your shirt on this year.)

“When I envisioned this event, it was my hope to empower women,” Levy says, and she chose City of Hope as the charity partner since the research and treatment center helps women who are feeling powerless, as they face life-threatening diseases. “It seemed like a natural fit as City of Hope researchers were the ones who pinpointed the link between fitness and disease prevention.”

The June 1 event, sponsored by Champion Sports Bras, will include a BFX Spinning class with Josh Taylor, “combat conditioning” with Barry’s Bootcamp’s Noah Neiman, a 305 Fitness class with founder Sadie Kurzban, and an award ceremony honoring The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney. She has “raised awareness for the importance of exercise as a preventative measure against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases,” says City of Hope VP Mary Sadeghy.
