20 NYC Boutique Studios Will Give Your Workout Dollars to Charity This Month

Empowered

If the serious improvement in the weather hasn’t already inspired you to shake up your workout routine this month, here’s another excellent reason to consider trying something new.

NYC Fit Week is returning May 11–17, with 20 top boutique fitness studios across the city offering classes that give 100 percent of the proceeds to She’s The First and Health Class 2.0, charities that promote education in New York City and around the world.

Empowered founder Emily Cook Harris created the event in 2014 and decided to make it even bigger and better this year, with more studios and a new local charity partner.

“Last year, we raised enough to provide full-tuition scholarships for three girls in the developing world to attend school for five total years,” Cook Harris says. “This year, we’ve expanded to include a local nonprofit, Healthclass 2.0. We’re excited to expand our reach to the local NYC community as well as continue supporting the global initiative of girls’ education via She’s The First.”

Participating studios include heavy hitters like The Fhitting Room, Row House, and 305 Fitness, plus hot new additions like Tone House, I.AM.YOU, and Brooklyn Bodyburn. And a finale event with IntenSati’s Natalia Petrzela will wrap up the week.

Come to think of it, with so many popular workouts represented, you may not have to change anything to sweat for a cause. Except maybe your clothes. —Jamie McKillop
