Fashion sneakers have been having a moment—a really, really long moment. And although there seems to be a new buzzy shoe a minute (with everyone from Kate Middleton to Rihanna embracing the trend), director Wes Anderson and Adidas are taking the excitement up even higher, by releasing a shoe the public has been clamoring for for the last 13 (!) years.

When The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou debuted in 2004, it was a pair of Adidas Rom sneakers that left the most lasting impression. While the quirky film, starring an Adidas-clad Bill Murray as a deep-sea explorer, may not have made big box office waves, it developed a cult following—and the footwear made a major splash.

In the 13 years since the film’s release, fans have been begging Adidas—via emails and 4,000-signature petitions—to release a real-life version of the iconic blue, white, and yellow Roms featured in the flick.

And Adidas has finally come around. At this week’s We Love Green Festival in Paris, Adidas unveiled the appropriately named, blue-striped, canary-yellow-laced Zissou. The limited-edition set of 100 hand-painted pairs (going for $257 apiece) unsurprisingly sold out faster than you can say Moonrise Kingdom. 

No word yet on whether Adidas plans to release additional Zissous. Maybe time to start another petition?
