As a commerce writer, I’ve tested my fair share of mascaras over the years. But between us, only one or two have been good enough to consistently keep in my makeup bag. I find most mascaras can't always grab onto my short lashes and give them the length that I want without me having to stack on layers and layers of product. That is, until I found Benefit Roller Lash Curling Mascara ($27).

Honestly, this mascara has completely changed the way I do my eye makeup. Instead of relying on my Stila All Day eyeliner ($23) to help make my lashes and eyes look lush and bold, this mascara does it perfectly on its own.  It separates, lifts, and curls them from root to tip. And it's all because of the thin, slightly curved brush, which is what celebrity makeup artist Neil Scibelli says makes this product a home run.

“For someone with finer, shorter or thinner eyelashes, I would suggest going for a thinner wand like Benefit's Roller Lash Curl because it will adhere to those smaller lashes more effectively,” says noted makeup artist Neil Scibelli. “A thinner wand is also great for bottom lashes in order to neatly coat each fine lash, as well as to prevent smudging and clumping along the lower lash line.”

But that's not all. The formula has nourishing ingredients like pro-vitamin B5 mixed in for moisture and to help condition  lashes. I also love that it's water-resistant, that way I don't have to worry about it smudging throughout the day or coming off during a workout. When you're ready to remove the mascara, any makeup remover can melt it right off.

I generally like to apply two coats, and with that, my lashes go from "meh," to somewhat noticeable, to bold and voluminous. This mascara is like a fine toothed comb that rakes through your lashes, and defines them with each stroke. You can even expect the wand to touch those hard-to-reach lashes in the corner of your eye. But I'm not the only one dishing out five out of five stars for the work this little beauty can do.

One Ulta reviewer raves about the mascara's clump-free formula saying: "I've been using this mascara for years!! It's perfect... the curled brush fits the shape of your eyelash perfectly, there is never any clumping and it goes on smoothly and with little effort! I love it!"

Another Ulta shopper gushed about the way the mascara extended their lashes. "Typically [I] don't review things, but this deserves a review!" they write. "I've never used a mascara that ACTUALLY lengthened my lashes! This stuff is BOMB. I have very, very short lashes and nothing ever works for me lol , this made my lashes so long and voluminous! 10/10 recommend just get it ASAP!"
