Be a Summer ‘Poolhop’ by Swimming and Lounging Around the Country—and Get Paid $10,000 for It

Summer is here, temperatures have spiked, and it seems like just about everyone has caught a strong case of the travel bug. While you're undoubtedly setting all the right travel alerts to ensure at least one whirlwind vacation is in your future, there's one under-the-radar wanderlusting opportunity you don't definitely don't want to miss. This August, Hotels.com is hiring one lucky adventurer to dip their toes in crystal-clear chlorine pools across the United States. Oh, and the job comes with $10,000 smackeroos to spend on cocktails, day trips, and exploring local cuisines—basically, it seems to be the best summer job ever.

"Dust off your favorite pool floatie, and grab the sunscreen! This summer, we’re hiring our first-ever 'Poolhop' to travel across the country researching the most epic hotel pools from coast to coast," the ad reads. "It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it." Indeed. What a sacrifice.

Apart from being at least 21 years old and a resident of the United States, there's only one real job requirement: You have to be (or be willing to become) a connoisseur of swimming pools who can write up a snappy Instagram review faster that it takes to yell "cannonball!"

And, to be clear, becoming a summer-season influencer is well worth your while: In return for your services, you'll receive the $10,000, an all-expenses-paid trip to six different swimming-pool-bedecked hotels, one year of Gold Rewards member status on Hotels.com, and—duh—bragging rights that'll last a lifetime.

Sounds like a pretty sweet gig to me, but in case you still need convincing to apply for the best summer job (who are you???), it's worth mentioning that the application is but a glorified Google Doc. It consists of five questions (like, "What makes you the ideal Poolhop candidate?") that you could literally answer in less time than it takes to properly apply sunscreen.

If you win, don't forget to pack tinted SPF moisturizer and sunglasses in your pool bag!
