So, at the Well+Good Retreat in Palm Springs, when co-leader Candice Kumai told attendees in one of her nightly cooking demonstrations that she eats three avocados a day, and that she's got the most-delicious way to do so down pat, I was all ears. "I cut the avocado in half, and give it a touch of soy sauce, and a squeeze of lemon," she says, adding that she eats it straight out of the skin—pitted, of course.
The rock-star chef believes that the secret to glowing skin is actually what's on your plate.
If you're trying to avoid sodium and are scared off by the soy sauce, first note that you'll only need a couple of dashes. Second, Kumai also says that you can opt for lower sodium versions so that you're not getting too much of that salty goodness. If you find that yours gets a little drippy, you can hold it with a paper towel or napkin to help soak that up.
Aside from all the healthy fats avos have to offer, she hails the benefits they hold for your skin, calling avocados "the ultimate beauty food." The rock-star chef believes that beauty products can only get you so far and that the secret to glowing skin is actually what's on your plate. In this case, the antioxidants and omega 3-packed inside the pear-shaped fruit bring on that healthy glow and keep your skin moisturized. You know, like slathering on a face oil—only way more delicious (especially now).
