So you’ve got under-eye circles—join the party! You’re definitely not alone with this one, and they’re not just from a lack of sleep, despite what you may have been led to believe. Some of us are born with ‘em (author’s note: hi, same), sometimes they show up from age and thinning skin, other times they’re from allergies, and they can show up if you’re anemic, dehydrated, smoking, or have sun damage. This covers many (large) groups of people. Under eye circles don’t discriminate!
If you’re not quite ready to embrace your circles, that’s totally OK. Not everyone wants filler—and it’s not always an option for your under-eye area (especially if your dark circles are congenital). So, having a concealer is clutch if you’re looking to even out your skin tone in that area.
San Diego makeup artist Taylor Haupt has three go-to, tried-and-true concealers that’ll give you the pigment and coverage you need to brighten up that tear trough without looking cake-y, flakey, or overly done-up. Ready for a naturally luminous, fresh-faced look?

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer — $30.00
You’ve undoubtedly heard of this one before; it’s acclaimed for good reason. “This is my go-to for any skin type,” says Haupt. “It provides medium to full coverage, which is great for those darker circles, and it’s really long-wearing.”

Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer — $30.00
“Not only is this totally full coverage,” she says, “But it’s also very hydrating, which means it won’t cake on a dry skin type. We definitely want to avoid that cakiness on delicate under eye skin!” With hyaluronic acid and coconut water in the formulation, you’ll be giving your skin some TLC while evening your complexion.

Bobbi Brown Under Eye Corrector — $31.00
“This option is great for layering under a concealer for even more coverage,” says Haupt. “So if you have a favorite overall concealer, try using this underneath on your dark circles to give an extra boost of brightness.” Something cool about Bobbi Brown’s line: they have different undertones. Most under-eye specific concealers are yellow toned to counteract purple hues, but not everyone has exclusively purple undertones with their eye circles. With this concealer, you can choose a warmer, peach toned option if that better suits your skin color.
