As a native Angeleno, I’m no stranger to seeing plump, juicy-looking lips. In fact, a handful of my close friends have lip fillers—I’ve even thought about getting the injection to create a more luscious pout. But you can create a similar effect without having to make an appointment (unless you want to—you do you!). You just need a good lip product. One of my go-tos for instant, full lips? Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Luminizer + Plumper ($24). It's a lot cheaper, too.

Honestly, I never thought I would be so quick to rally behind a celeb-created product. But this is Rihanna we’re talking about. And if there’s anyone who can make your lips look instantly fuller, you better believe it’s RiRi. Her lip glosses always deliver impeccable shine and the Universal Lip Luminizer + Plumper is no exception. It gives the same high gloss finish, and a hint of color to help make your lips really pop. However, it goes one step further by also plumping your lips.
I wasn’t sure if the gloss would even make a big difference—but I put some on and hoped for the best. What did I have to lose? About 30 seconds in, I felt the tingling sensation that's very common in lip plumpers when their ingredients react to your skin. Fenty uses a unique and non-irritating "Plump Job Complex" that contains ginger root oil and capsicum fruit extract (pepper) to essentially pinch lips. However, the sensation was faint and totally bearable (nothing like the Lip Venom of our youth). The gloss is pretty thick in texture, but it’s not chunky. Plus? It actually stays put once you apply it. (This seems like an obvious observation, but a lot of glosses fade away in minutes—not this stuff.)
I also love that the gloss is super hydrating. Its formula includes both vitamin E and shea butter, two emollients that help to moisturize, soften and smooth the skin. This ultimately is what helps give the gloss its juicy appearance. I got the gloss in Fenty Glow, but you can also try it Hot Cherry, Hot Chocolit, Fu$$y, and Lemon Lava.
And while this isn’t exactly the same as getting a filler (I did say similar effect, ok??), the gloss does give my lips a much fuller appearance. Additionally, it moisturizes my lips like a balm and keeps them incredibly smooth in the process. But I'm not the only one who believes in its plumping powers.
“Love Love Love. I'm a girl with naturally full lips, but when I tell you, I love a good lip plumper. I was nervous about the gold shimmer but it is not chunky at all, and you don't feel the shimmer/glitter on the lips. I would definitely recommend it, and it gives a great plump. I've picked it up in 3 colors," one fan wrote on Sephora.
Another shopper echoed a similar sentiment: “I love the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb heat Universal Lip Luminizer and Plumper in the shade Lemon Lava. This has become a staple in my everyday. I love how it offers a bit of a plump to the lips with minimal tingle and has a very subtle shade. If you want to have a bit of a plumper lip and don't like a lot of color you definitely need this product."
