Why your 2018 fitness goal should be working out in a giant geode

Well+Good brought fitness classes to Art Basel, where American Express Platinum Card Members scored major perks at the beach-side Platinum House in Miami.

Your extensive crystal collection rivals only your impressively stocked activewear drawer, but you’ve never been able to combine your love for the two—until now.

During Art Basel 2017, Well+Good took over the American Express Platinum House to give fitness lovers the chance to take next-level workout classes…right under the awning of a giant geode.

Featuring buzzy fitness instructors like Miami’s barre queen Taylor Walker, boxing pro Christa DiPaolo, and dance-cardio diva Janet Jones, each morning of the three-day festivities started with a sweat sesh taught on the light-reflecting main stage of the beachside at the Miami Beach EDITION.

So if you have a fitness goal for 2018, make it giving your workouts the highest vibes. And if you missed us at Art Basel, throwing a couple crystals in your gym bag is the next best thing (until next year!).

The crystal-inspired setup was the centerpiece of Platinum House, a gorgeous South Beach oasis where guests could recharge in the midst of all the Art Basel activities.

The pastel formation reflected unicorn colors over the whole space (and the ocean views didn’t hurt, either).

What happens at Platinum House stays at Platinum House—except sore muscles, which definitely lingered after DiPaolo’s kick-butt workout. The creator of Equinox’s super popular class The Cut (like boxing without the gloves), the fitness pro got the day started on an endorphin-charged note.

Actress and former Miss USA Olivia Culpo dropped in to get her sweat on, joining in DiPaolo’s class rocking an all-white activewear look.

Oh, and actor Michael B. Jordan stopped by to show off his best yoga poses alongside DiPaolo and Walker. (Peep their super cute yoga mats!)

What’s Art Basel without a dance party? Vixen Workout’s Janet Jones and her backup dancers (nbd) taught choreographed moves perfect to bust out at the after party later that night.

On the terrace, Walker helped American Express Platinum Card® Members get stretched out and centered before hitting the art exhibits with her yoga-inspired Pilates class. (Check out that view!)

Talk about #momgoals. Jones rocked two days of heart-pumping dance seshes—and she’s six and a half months pregnant!

By the afternoon, Platinum House filled with Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members, who scored access to all tons of VIP perks. And as an extra feel-good bonus, all proceeds from the $15 tickets went to The Miami Foundation’s hurricane relief efforts.

Pics or it didn’t happen. In between buzzy workouts guests sat on the veranda overlooking the ocean and sipped refreshing beverages—and snapped selfies, of course.

The workout-boosted morning set the tone for the rest of the day, which was filled with perks for Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members, like aura photography, manis, hairstyling, and healthy bites.

People walking along the beach took note of the next-level set-up, and got to join in the fun alongside other Platinum Card Members and VIP guests like model Rocky Barnes.

In the evening, cool-girl DJ Hannah Bronfman filled the beach with beat-bumping tunes. Because what’s a high-vibe weekend without the mood-boosting soundtrack to match?
