Nutrition bars that give back

You already know the best (and worst) nutrition bars. Now, the next generation of healthier bars is cooking with a new ingredient—philanthropy. Brands like Nouri and This Bar Saves Lives aren’t only made with clean ingredients so you’ll feel good about eating them, they also donate a portion of the profits to hunger-based charities.

Nouri was founded by married couple, Jared Crooks and Veneka Chagwedera, who also happen to be Princeton grads. Their bars are all-natural, non-GMO, vegan, and come in mostly organic flavors like Super Delicious Apple Cinnamon Spice and By Far The Best Chocolate And Creamy Cashew Bar. And when you buy one, Nouri will involve you in their global do-gooderism by serving a hot meal to a child in need via their partnership with Kids Against Hunger.

Similarly, This Bar Saves Lives is a new company from actors Ryan Devlin, Todd Grinnell, and Ravi Patel (who you may recognize from Cougar Town, Desperate Housewives, and Transformers, respectively). The company, slated for national expansion this fall, offers all-natural, non-GMO, and partly organic options like Dark Chocolate Cherry and Sea Salt, and Wild Blueberry Pistachio. When you buy a bar,  Save The Children will deliver Plumpy’Nut or Nutributter (both developed to combat hunger) to an extremely malnourished child.
