My Five Beauty Obsessions: Julia Dzafic

The fashion blogger behind Lemon Stripes stocks her beauty bag with these natural go-tos instead of magazine-recommended picks. Here's why.

You might recognize Julia Dzafic, 28, from her bright and cheery fashion-focused blog, Lemon Stripes. But Dzafic originally started her site as a healthy recipe platform and continues to include wellness-approved ideas like massaged kale salad and miso-glazed cod—way more than just pretty outfits and home decor shots. (Not that we don’t love those, too.)

Dzafic, who lives in New York City, attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, an education which inspired Lemon Stripesand some major lifestyle changes—including a revamp of her beauty bag.

“After reading a handout with all of the ingredients that are in things like Cetaphil, and what they can do to you, I got really scared and switched to a holistic routine,” says Dzafic, who swapped out the chemical-filled cleanser for new natural favorites, like Desert Essence and Caudalie.

Here’s a peek into her Dzafic’s skin-care routine. Now we just need her to Instagram it. —Molly Gallagher

s.w. basics, natural beauty

1. S.W. Basics Toner
A good friend of mine, Adina Grigore, started this company and turned me on to this toner. It only has five ingredients—water, raw apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, and sage and sandalwood essential oils. As soon as I use it on my skin, I feel like it breathes for the first time all day

2. Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash
I never had acne growing up, but when I turned 25, I started getting cystic acne. I started using this face wash with tea tree oil. It’s the only thing that makes my skin feel clean and doesn’t make things worse.

dr. hauschka, eye cream

3. Dr. Hauschka Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream
The area under my eyes tend to get dry, while the rest of my skin is more oily-prone. I have to balance it out with an eye cream that’s not too oily. I find that most of the good eye creams aren’t natural, but this one is. I use it at night right after my toner.

4. Tarte Lipsurgance
I hate the feeling of lipstick and lip gloss. This one feels smooth and smells really good. It gives color and sheen but feels like Chapstick. The one I use is a peachy coral.

Caudalie beauty elixir

5. Caudalie Beauty Elixir
I keep this toning mist and pick-me-up at my desk. I’ve been using it for five years. When I’m sitting at work, it wakes me up. It’s amazing.
