See what’s in Oscar season’s greenest gift bag

Oscar season is jam-packed with decadent events, but at least one has a purpose that goes beyond celebrating Hollywood’s most talented and most attractive: Global Green USA’s 12th Annual Pre-Oscar Gala.

This year the sustainable soiree took place at Avalon in Hollywood drawing eco-conscious stars including Ashley Greene, Maggie Grace, Amy Smart, and Billy Zane, who all enjoyed a performance by Oscar-nominee Common—and walked away with a gift bag of natural goodies. Of course, we had to take a peek inside at the beauty swag, listed here in order from left to right. —Sari Anne Tuschman

Ecotools Skin-Perfecting Brush: A gal can never have enough brushes in her makeup kit. This one from Ecotools’ Complexion Collection (specifically designed for BB/CC creams) has a bamboo handle. The best part? The cruelty-free bristles couldn’t be any softer against your pretty face.

Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque: This hair masque works specifically to strengthen and deep condition hair that has spent more than its fair share of time in a salon chair. While it’s not exclusively plant-based, Pureology works to help “foster a sustainable future within the salon professional community.”All the better for the future red carpet events.

Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap: We don’t usually geek out over hand soap but Mrs. Meyer’s is free of sodium-laureth sulfate and  full of plant-derived ingredients, natural essential oils, aloe vera and olive oil, leaving your busy hands looking and feeling like they lead a life of leisure. No one has to know otherwise.

Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Glamour: Like your mom always told you: “Put on some lipstick!” Might as well make Chantecaille’s slick, highly pigmented gloss made with green-tea extract and botanicals. This gloss gives your pout a natural little plump, too.

Jax Coco 100% Pure Coconut Water: Just when we thought there couldn’t be one more coconut water on the market… this one shows up with packaging as clean as its ingredients.

Schmift’s Cedarwood + Juniper Natural Deodorant: Part of the growing genre of natural deodorants that are  more effective is this woodsy-scented wonder that’s free of aluminum- and pretty much every other no-no ingredients. Just apply a pea-size amount from the small jar to each underarm, and voila. It works for both men and women, which means one less product in your shared medicine cabinet. Genius.

Branch Basics All-Purpose Cleaning Soap: Branch Basics prides itself on never using synthetic ingredients. Ever. The fragrance-free, 100% plant-based, human-safe soap can be diluted with water to pretty much become the only cleaning product you need. It’s billed as being “tough enough to dissolve car-engine grease but gentle enough for washing a baby,” which may go down as the best product description we’ve ever read.
