Mark our words, you’ll soon be wearing your sneakers with flirty dresses and printed denim. We’re not talking your cute slip-ons or your designer high-tops. But regular old (okay, new) sneakers, like the kind you’d wear to work out. How do we know?

Running shoes are everywhere: on Dior and Chanel runways to the feet of street-style stars like The Man Repeller and Colette’s Sarah Lerfel.

“We’ve seen sneakers transition from runways to the streets,” says Jennifer Bandier, owner of Hamptons luxury activewear shop, Bandier. “But then it becomes about personal style and how to make it work.”

How to pull it off? Keep it simple: Here are five black, white, and grey sneakers that you can totally wear outside of your workout—the basic colors won’t clash with your cobalt skirt. But you still get that sporty edge.

Oh, and did we mention that they make your morning rush up the subway stairs so much easier.

Nike Roshe Run, $75

These sneakers are versatile and will work as well with your favorite pair of leggings as they will with all of the spring dresses you’re saving for warmer weather.

Adidas POD-S3.1 Shoes, $100

This Adidas sneaker is an intro course to the chunky sneaker trend. It’s relatively smaller proportions make it more easily pairable with a feminine dress silhouette.

New Balance Metallic Patch, $80

Colorful but understated, these are a versatile everyday sneaker that isn’t black. New Balances are notoriously comfortable and these will keep you steady on your feet while accentuating whatever dress you slip into.

Puma Suede Heart Galaxy Sneakers, $80

The combination of pink, suede, and ribbon make these the Sporty Spice of sneakers. They’ll bring a flair of buoyancy and light to whatever dress you choose to pair them with.

APL Phantom Sneakers, $250

Animal print is literally everywhere right now including on these cult-favorite APL sneakers. Pair these with a patterned dress for a bold maximalist look or keep things simple by complimenting it with an LBD.

If you’re not wearing socks with these sneakers, this is the tip you need for cleaning them or the no-show socks to opt for instead
