Hoka’s Just Launched a New Clifton Sneaker That’s Somehow 15% Lighter Than Before

Hoka One One fans already know that the Clifton is a gamechanger of a running (and walking!) shoe—plus, a podiatrist’s dream, thanks to its thick, stacked sole that provides a cushy, supportive landing pad. Personally, I wear the Clifton 7 almost daily because they’re insanely comfortable. Something else I appreciate about the brand? They don't adopt an "if it ain't broke" mentality when it comes to retooling their best designs, which means they only get better with time. That's the case with the just-revealed, Hoka Clifton 8 ($140).

“We aren’t willing to stop pushing for innovation and improvement,” says Gretchen Weimer, vice president of product at Hoka One One. And as a result, this latest iteration is 15-percent lighter than its predecessor. The added levity comes courtesy of an airy new midsole, made from the brand's most energetic, featherweight foam to date.

Aside from that, this is more of a refresh than an entire overhaul of the Clifton, which is a boon for anyone who already loved its engineering.

That Hoka is dedicating its resources to discovering new ways to make lightweight running shoes that are still super supportive is exciting news for anyone who isn't willing to sacrifice comfort for performance. “The Clifton is designed to empower runners to reach their next level,” says Weimer. “The 8 is no exception, and it’s arguably the most overachieving rendition yet.”

Currently, the Hoka Clifton 8 is available for pre-order—the first drop is expected to start shipping on June 1.
