Astrologer Jennifer Racioppi is here with her weekly celestial weather report (from a wellness perspective), with the daily nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle choices to keep you in tune with the cosmos—no matter what your sun sign is. This week: Feminine energy takes center stage (AKA look out, world).

October 1

Ready to rumble? The month and week begin on the heels of Pluto stationing direct. Tiny but mighty Pluto is waking up from its multi-month retrograde journey at 18 degrees of Capricorn, instigating the day with a jolt of passion, and maybe even a wee bit of chaos, too. Like an airplane experiencing some turbulence, don’t get thrown off course with a couple of bumps. Instead, stay grounded and connected to your truth. Consider starting the day with a body scan meditation, taking note of what you need physically. Then make a promise to yourself and give your body what it needs. More water? Meditation? A massage? Even though Pluto technically stationed direct last night, Monday feels extra charged. Channel your focus productively.

October 2

Mercury, the planet of communication, makes an awkward angle known as a square to Pluto today, meaning communication could present challenges. If you don’t get the news you want today, do not fret. Instead, allow for piercing insights to guide you forward.

With the waning quarter moon marking the halfway point between the last full moon and upcoming new moon, now’s the time to consider what you no longer need and let it go.

With the waning quarter moon marking the halfway point between the last full moon and upcoming new moon, now’s the time to consider what you no longer need and let it go. Anything from pesky clutter to bigger things like that relationship that no longer serves you (and brings you down) is on the chopping block today. Surrender that which you no longer need.

October 3

Today is a great day to get organized. Not only does it support you to feel more focused, but it could even help you to feel healthier. After all, messiness might amplify frustration, causing you to make poor choices when it comes to food and self-care. So take the time necessary to straighten up. That could mean cleaning out your inbox, filing papers, or getting ready for the big meeting around the corner. Once the moon moves into Leo at 5:12 p.m. Eastern, the mood shifts into a more lighthearted and upbeat vibe. Until then, make yourself comfortable. Straighten up your physical and/or online spaces.

October 4

With the Leo moon vibes strong today, keep a light heart and focus on what’s working. Make a gratitude list and savor the positive. With no significant astrological aspects happening today, and waning moon moving through fixed fire, dare I even say: Have some fun! Consider rocking out to your favorite tunes via your headphones, or better yet, that uplifting podcast that elevates your life. Eat the foods that best nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Go for that high-vibe midday walk if you can. Take some time today to focus on what’s going well and savor the good.

October 5

Venus, the planet of love and beauty, stations retrograde today. Venus travels retrograde until November 16, offering a time to reflect on personal values, interpersonal relationship dynamics, money, and of course, love. Over the next six weeks, Venus provides a substantial opportunity to align with your most profound truth, and consequently surrender that which doesn’t honor your most sacred values.

Venus on its retrograde path offers you the opportunity to fiercely connect to your feminine power (regardless of your gender orientation).

Take time today to tune in and set an intention for this holy astrological time. Venus on its retrograde path offers you the opportunity to fiercely connect to your feminine power (regardless of your gender orientation). In honor of the planet of femininity commencing its retrograde journey, take time today to write. How do you feel? (The last time Venus stationed retrograde was March 2017, so take time to acclimate to this rare and potent shift.)

October 6

The waning moon travels through Virgo for the majority of the weekend—meaning, a little bit of alone time goes a long way. If you can, take yourself out to lunch, or give yourself an hour to stroll through your favorite neighborhood by yourself. Can’t seem to find time to be by yourself? Get creative. Even with kids, a busy life, and everyone screaming your name at once, it’s essential to have an hour to yourself here and there. So ask for help if you need it. Virgo stems from the root word virgin which means unto self. Even the most extroverted among us do well with alone time here and there, so don’t be shy about prioritizing your privacy. It’s okay. Taking space doesn’t mean you don’t care. To the contrary, it’s a version of self-care.

October 7

With a three-day weekend for some, Sunday might offer the opportunity for a purely fun day. Even if you have to work tomorrow, with the moon void of course for the majority of the day, the cosmos support you to take some downtime to unwind and relax. (The moon is "void of course" during its transit from one sign of the Zodiac to the next, when it's essentially in no-man's-land—and the period of time is perfect for hitting "pause" for a moment.)

Get yourself to your favorite candlelit slow-flow vinyasa class, or any other fitness class that allows you to settle into a sense of santosha (the Sanskrit word for contentment).

Get yourself to your favorite candlelit slow-flow vinyasa class, or any other fitness class that allows you to settle into a sense of santosha (the Sanskrit word for contentment). You know, the type of class that will enable you to walk away feeling lifted and aligned. If you can find yourself to some body work, consider craniosacral therapy, or choose a practitioner who can offer you reiki. Tomorrow's new moon in Libra provides a robust lunar moment for initiating a fresh start. Until then, settle into your skin and rest. You earned it.
