Struggling To Blend Design Styles With Your Roommate? Look to Your Zodiac Signs (Yes, Really)

When you live with a roommate, the key to making your space feel like a home (ahem, rather than a competing, two-of-everything hodgepodge), is combining your decor in a way that feels cohesive.

Easier said than done, you might say, but if Allie Short and Jess Freedman—two Well+Good video producers, best friends, and roommates with completely different design styles—can do it, anyone can.

Their secret? Looking to the zodiac to guide them on how to find the ideal color scheme for their apartment. Specifically, that meant hitting up the color palettes we curated with Sherwin-Williams® for each sign in our Colorstrology destination—aka, your one-stop shop for finding a paint color (and decor) scheme that fits your vibe, astrologically speaking.

The two BFFs zeroed in on their dining area, which serves as both an entertaining space and a WFH spot from 9 to 5. But they initially clashed over the color selections: As a down-to-earth, peace-keeping Libra, Freedman gravitates toward practical, neutral hues, while Short (an Aquarius) is an out-of-the-box thinker who typically likes bolder, brighter shades.

Luckily for them, they're both air signs, so they found compromise in the breezy, creativity-inspiring shades of their Colorstrology palettes. Once they landed on a few color candidates, they used the Sherwin-Williams® ColorSnap® Visualizer App to see how the colors would look on their IRL walls before getting to work on their home makeover.

Watch the video to see which colors they picked and the amazing transformation of their apartment from white-washed WFH space to colorful hosting hotspot.
