Take a peek inside W+G’s high vibe wellness oasis—AKA our new office

As you would expect from a health and wellness brand, Well+Good is all about creating a plant-filled, kombucha-fueled workspace made for both productivity and wellness cool factor. So when Well+Good’s New York City headquarters recently moved to a new (and bigger!) office space on Union Square previously occupied by Shake Shack’s corporate HQ, swapping the burger signage and reinventing the environment for our 50-person team was a (super fun) challenge.

It was all the vision of Well+Good design director Jenna Gibson, with digital designer Ems McCarthy running point on transforming the 11,000-square-foot, “formerly corporate” office with the Well+Good DNA (AKA crystals galore—our conference rooms don names like Quartz and Citrine—comfy statement furniture from Room & Board, and all the hygge vibes).

“Our founders wanted to utilize the natural light and beauty of the space,” McCarthy says. “And, of course, we wanted to make Well+Good’s home base comfortable and functional with classic but modern pieces that will last.”

“We work in New York City which is super inspiring, but can also limit the amount of greenery you see,” McCarthy says. “We’re really lucky to be right across from Union Square Park to enjoy the farmers’ market and afternoon-refresh walks, but building a positive environment inside our office that inspires people the same way felt important. TLDR; Plants make people happy!”

Besides filling the office with as much greenery as possible, McCarthy’s vision was to match the furniture and design pieces to the overall Well+Good vibe.

“The Well+Good aesthetic is clean, bright, happy, and approachable,” McCarthy explains. “So we wanted the new office to reflect that with decor that’s modern, comfy, environmentally friendly, inspiring, and co-working friendly. Basically, we wanted it to feel like a super lush wellness haven that actually personifies the content we produce.”

On the first day in the new Well+Good office, everyone was welcomed by a tiny succulent from The Sill on her desk, as well as a personalized Twig + Petal essential oil roller (offering boosts like energy and concentration).

In addition to make sure everyone’s desks were inviting, “Creating multiple different gathering spaces was definitely intentional,” says McCarthy. “We spend a lot of our time in meetings and at desks, so we wanted all of our employees to feel comfortable to sprawl out and make their own nook when needed.”

“Clean, light, bright is our styling jam, but we also wanted to add some pops of color and fun, like the neon sign and eye-catching wallpaper!” McCarthy says. Mission, accomplished.

Kombucha on tap? Of course. Health-Ade ‘booch is free-flowing, giving everyone their daily (or twice daily…) dose of gut-saving probiotics.

“In the past, our offices were based in co-working spaces, and we’ve really grown to love communal areas where we can meet to collaborate or work alone—so creating that continuity was definitely a goal of ours,” McCarthy says. It’s now easy to get together on projects, even when your favorite conference room is booked.

McCarthy’s favorite area of the office (besides the kitchen, with its endless supply of avocados and herbal teas)?

“I don’t think I could pick a favorite because the pieces collectively are what makes the space so special,” she says. “Working with amazing decor brands, and curating the pieces that would bring the Well+Good website and brand to life in a beautiful, productive space was my favorite part of the process. From our custom wallpaper to our neon sign in reception, it was all about making the work environment a place you feel inspired in.”
