As far as high quality sleepwear goes, I've always been the person to lazily throw on a cotton T-shirt and call it a day. This, with a pair of old leggings, has been my go-to sleep attire for the last 25 years, believe or not. That is...until I discovered the benefits of wearing silk to bed. Unlike cotton, silk is naturally more breathable, lightweight, and non-irritating for your skin. Specifically, you don't have to worry about it snagging on your skin or hair. It also just feels incredibly luxurious. And while silk tends to be a bit pricey, it's definitely worth the coin, especially if it comes in the form of this 22 Momme Full Length Silk Pajamas Set from LilySilk.

Seriously, these PJs made me a total silk convert. For starters, the top and bottoms are made entirely of mulberry silk, which according to Nava Greenfield MD, of Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City, is one of the most comfortable fabrics to wear against the skin.

"Mulberry silk is one of the softest natural silks available, and therefore, will have benefits to the skin," Nava Greenfield, MD, of Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City previously told Well+Good. "The silk likely will not irritate areas with sensitive skin such as the axilla, groin, and neck. It won’t cause overheating, which can result in a heat rash, and may even help keep moisture in."

The set comes in a range of pretty colors including chocolate brown, rosy pink, dark green and violet. Plus, you can hand wash them (yes, really!) or toss them in a gentle wash if you can't send them out for dry cleaning. To be honest, when I first received the pajamas, the fabric felt a lot sturdier than I expected (aka, it wasn't slippery). But this didn't subtract any points on the comfort front. In fact, the more I wore the pajamas, the softer the fabric began to feel. Overall, the pajamas are lightweight and easy to have on without feeling like like you're going to overheat under your covers. This is mainly because the fabric doesn't cling to your body. Rather, the slightly oversized fit gives you with more freedom of movement as you sleep.

Another bonus: LilySilk prides itself on using natural materials for its silk and cashmere collections. Both of which have been spotted on A-list celebs like actresses Lucy Hale, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nina Dobrev.

And while normally one set will cost you $255, you can now take home a matching pair for a whopping 40 percent off. So, if you're looking to upgrade your sleepwear heading into the new year, now's the time to strike while the iron's hot.
