Just because acne's incredibly common (around 60 million Americans have it), doesn't mean the skin condition's not incredibly annoying—not to mention infuriatingly hard to keep at bay. (Speaking from experience here.)

Lorde knows. Pun intended.

The singer-songwriter recently took to Instagram to express the frustrations she feels as she deals with her own pimples, debunking some eye roll-inducing myths along the way.

"For real though, acne sucks," Lorde declared on her stories, as reported by Allure. She admits that she's dealt with breakouts for years, "done all the drugs, tried all the things, and people are still like, 'You know what worked for me, is moisturizing!'" Sound familiar?

"[I've] tried all the things, and people are still like, 'You know what worked for me, is moisturizing!'"

She's also been given unsolicited advice like to make a DIY Greek yogurt, honey, and avocado face mask (which doesn't necessarily heal chronic acne), use an apricot scrub, or slather on coconut oil—which, by the way, can cause breakouts on certain skin types.

But the worst myth that Lorde's faced? "When people think you're just dirty," she laments. "'Do you wash your face?' It's like, yes, I wash my face—I'm just genetically cursed." I feel you, girl. The singer doesn't end on a bad note, though—she addresses everyone who fights acne on the reg with the fact that she feels your pain. "We'll get there, we will—I promise," says Lorde. And until there's a one-size-fits-all acne-banishing pill, there are plenty of reasons to feel comfortable in your own skin as you try to keep pimples away (and, at the very least, some really good concealers out there).

In the meantime, these are the top spot treatments according to top dermatologists. And this is how to cover up a really big pimple
