Ever since Meghan Markle stepped onto the royal scene, she's been oft-spotted with wispy low-bun that's super chic and modern. And if the newly minted Duchess of Sussex has taught us anything, it's that you can rock said hairstyle everywhere from a casual stroll with your beau to the royal wedding to, you know, that 6 a.m. Pilates class.

The reason for it's versatility is that it's seriously simple to execute and you've likely already been doing it for forever—no? What's more you can move the knot from the top to the nape of your head to change it up, all while staying within the easygoing framework of the hairstyle.

"This simple yet refined style is going to be the look for all types of events this summer."

"This simple yet refined style is going to be the look for all types of events this summer, from pool parties and backyard barbecues to showers and weddings," says Amanda Scott, hairstylist at Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon (Normant himself created Markle's wedding-day look). "A bit more refined than a messy bun, and more relaxed than the classic bun, the wispy bun takes a little bit more effort to achieve but is very much worth it."

Start with a fresh or slightly lived-in blowout or subtle, natural waves where the ends are smooth. "This works well because when you twist hair up, the pieces that fall out will look soft and wispy rather than crunchy," she says. "Then, run some product like John Frieda Secret Weapon on the hair, all the way from roots to very tips of the ends, will ensure the ends stay wispy and not frizzy as well as help hold the look in place."

Once hair is prepped, place it in a ponytail and tie it with a clear elastic, which will give your look a sturdy foundation. Begin to twirl the pony into a bun, leaving the ends free, which will help to enhance the wispy look. To finish it off, untuck face-framing pieces and if you don't have them, "see your stylist ASAP," says Scott, "because a wispy bun is nothing without soft pieces around the face." Touché, just maybe leave that bit until after you're off the Reformer.
