Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Baby Girl Is a Gemini—Here’s What That May Mean for Her Personality

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed a healthy baby girl, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. Baby Lilibet is the fourth member and very first Gemini of the new family of four, with Leo Meghan, Virgo Harry, and Taurus Archie.

And according to astrologer Stephanie Gailing, author of The Complete Guide to Astrological Self-Care, Lilibet's natal astrological chart reveals she may be naturally curious and have a strong desire to learn and share her knowledge. “People with Gemini suns also love and crave variety,” Gailing says. “Though they may appear fickle at times while making decisions, that’s just because they often don’t want to hastily choose a single option when they can find benefit in numerous ones.”

Communicating effectively—whether she’s sorting out classic Gemini changes of heart or otherwise—may also be a strong suit for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby. The planet of communication, Mercury, is in Gemini in Lili’s natal chart, which is a particularly strong placement, says Gailing. And although the planet is currently retrograde, being born during such a transit isn’t a bad omen at all, despite the timeframe often being associated with all kinds of communication-related issues. In fact, the placement can even lend a philosophical, thoughtful tendency. “Lilibet may often feel inspired to look inward and listen to her inner voice,” Gailing says. “Those with Mercury retrograde in their charts typically do well when they have some alone time to process their ideas in a slow-paced way and trust their intuition.”

“We can expect Lilibet to have endurance in championing causes important to her, with the desire to tear down structures that she believes have reached their expiration dates.” —Stephanie Gailing, astrologer

As it turns out, that type of measured thinking could very well lead to success; Steve Jobs, Hillary Clinton, and Angelina Jolie all have Mercury retrograde in their natal chart, too. Interestingly, Gailing notes, the similarities between Jolie and baby Lilibet go on from there: They share the same birthday (so, they’re also both Gemini suns), and both were born with Mars opposite Pluto, which can indicate someone who is a staunch fighter for what they believe in, says Gailing. “We can expect Lilibet to have endurance in championing causes important to her, with the desire to tear down structures that she believes have reached their expiration dates,” she adds.

Lilibet’s moon sign is Aries, which will only heighten this pioneering spirit. “People with their moon in Aries need their independence, and enjoy fresh starts and a cornucopia of activities,” says Gailing. “Considering Lilibet’s Gemini and Aries combination, having a variety of inputs and experiences will be particularly nurturing for her.”

With Lilibet's rising sign (or ascendant) in Leo, some of her impassioned pursuits are poised to unfold in the public arena, too. “Being seen and recognized is a vital way for those with Leo in their charts to develop a healthy sense of individuality,” says Gailing. In this way, Lilibet may take after Markle, whose sun is in Leo. “What’s interesting, though, is that Lilibet’s ascendant is in the last degree of Leo,” adds Gailing. “In fact, if she was born two minutes later—or the clocks were off—she would be a Virgo rising. Last degrees reflect a concentrated expression of that sign’s qualities.” So, we can surely expect some strong Leo energy in Lilibet, whether that manifests in her expressing her creativity or outwardly embracing her uniqueness.

Given that both her moon sign (Aries) and ascendant (Leo) are fire signs, Lilibet is sure to be active, intuitive, and instinctive, says Gailing. Consider these fiery placements alongside Lilibet’s sun sign in Gemini—an air sign, which thrives on all things intellectual—and we can expect her to be someone who enjoys the ability to have a variety of experiences on the regular and the freedom to pursue all that feels interesting to her, says Gailing.
